All I can say is... Dean Koontz does it again. His characters are so real, so lifelike... I swear, they breathe on you. This book was a little more violent than most of his usually are, and a little more sexual as well. Okay, a good bit more sexual. There isn't a lot of sex in this book, and it isn't highly detailed, but it is there.
If you like carnies, you'll like this book. It's about the woman who ran away from her parents and joined a traveling carnival. She married one of the men in there, Conrad, and stayed with the carnival for two years. Then she gave birth to this freak child... and she killed it, because she was convinced it was evil. Conrad divorces her, and she moves on to a new life. Conrad is so angered by the murder of his child, that he vows to kill the woman's (Ellen) children in the future.
So. It's fifteen or twenty years later, and Ellen has two kids and a new life. The carnival comes to town...
You can try to guess the rest. *winks*
I really liked the character "Ghost" in this book... he was cooler than shit, man... maybe it's just cause he was an albino, but... yeah. ^^;; Whatever.
