The Murder of Dreams, the Birth of Submission

The world is a hall of mirrors, and they are all the same. It sounds so trite, doesn't it? Yet the fact remains that these mirrors are not like anything that you have ever seen. We all begin our lives the same way; coming through the old door that always leaks when it rains. Our first mirror that we discover is nothing but a window with the faintest glare superimposed on it; we can see our reflection, but only if we look deep enough.

Then we choose a method, any method, but since we are young we do not fully understand the negative and positive consequences that each presents. Everything, everyone, every method is different, if only in the slightest. Genetically, you are ninety-percent identical to the person standing next to you, to the man sellings hotdogs on the street, to the CEO of the world's biggest corporation.

You will find it honestly surprising how so little matters so much. Not only in our DNA is this true; it is also true in the methods that we implement and the paths that we walk. The smallest thing can make the most difference. It is your job to notice those things and keep them in check.

The method we choose embarks upon us an adventure that no one else will ever experience. Not now, not in the future, not ever. Be careful, however; don't feel too special about being unique. The truth is that everyone is separate, but in the respect of our individuality, we are uniform. This is what makes us human.

From there on, it's difficult to say what will and will not happen. No one can predict the ups and downs of life with perfect accuracy. To be honest, few can even see where exactly it is that they are going with any degree of clarity. Our hall of mirrors is, as expected, plagued with fog and precipitation.

There is only one other similarity, though it could be called a congruence of the weakest kind. The end is the same for all of us. The only difference? Our state of mind as we finally tip over the chasm that may or may not exist. It all depends on perspective.
